How do I use Weighted mean of grades and Extra Credit?
You will learn how to set your gradebook to aggregate Weighted mean of grades and still apply an extra credit grade item.
Follow these steps after you have added your grade items to your gradebook.

All of the desired grades have been added to the course.
Weighted mean of grades cannot handle extra credit, so the choices are to either use Natural or Mean of grades with extra credit.
We will first create a Category which will use Weighted mean of grades. then we will set one grade item for extra credit which will be in the main course category, which we will leave set to Natural.
1. Create a new Category and set it for Weighted means.
Follow these steps to create a new category and to set it for Weighted mean of grades.
1.1. Click on Add category.
1.2. Type a title for the category.
Give the category a title that will make sense to you and your students, such as "Total before extra credit".
1.3. Set the aggregation method for Weighted mean of grades.
1.4. Click on Save changes.
1.5. Check the boxes for the grade items to be moved to the new category.
1.6. Use the dropbox to select the new category.
1.7. Type weight values for each grade item.
The weights are relative to each other. So, in this example the Bio and Photo assignment is worth 8 times less than is the Paper 4 assignment and 4 times less than the Paper 1, 2, and 3 assignments.
1.8. Click on Save changes.
2. Set the extra credit grade item.
2.1. Click on Edit.
The Ask a Question forum is the grade item we want to mark as extra credit.
2.2. Select Edit settings.
2.3. Tick the Extra credit box.
2.4. Click on Save changes.
2.5. Your gradebook is now set for Weighted means and extra credit.
