How do I use Simple Restore to import a backup of an Activity into my course?
This guide does NOT apply to TITANium 2019-2020 as that block no longer functions.
After creating a backup file of a single Activity from one of your courses (or from another instructor), you may use the Simple Restore tool to bring that one Activity into a different course. As an alternative, the Restore tool may be used.
1.1. Enter your course in TITANium.
1.2. Click on the Gear icon.
1.3. Select Restore.
1.4. Scroll down the page to the User private backup area.
If you were the user who created the backup file and it was done for the same academic year of TITANium, then it should be listed within the User private backup area.
1.5. Click on Manage backup files.
However, if you received the backup file from a colleague or you created it and downloaded it from a previous academic year of TITANium, or you received it from a publisher, then you will need to upload the file by clicking on Manage backup files.
1.6. Drag the backup file to the User private backup area upload box.
The file upload limit is 100 MB.
If your file is larger than 100 MB, you need to send an email to email@example.com, giving them the name of the original course and the name of the new course. You will be notified when a backup file of your original course has been uploaded. Then, you can use Simple Restore to copy the content into the new course.
1.7. Click on Save changes.
1.8. The backup file is now displayed in your User private backup area.
2.1. Enter your course in TITANium.
2.2. Scroll down the page to the Simple Restore block.
Read this guide if the Simple Restore block is not listed on your course main page.
2.3. Click on Import all materials into current course.
Simple Restore does not allow you to pick and choose the content it imports. It will bring in ALL of the content contained within the backup file - all Activities, all Resources, all Gradebook grade items, etc.
2.4. Scroll down to the User private backup area.
2.5. Click on the link to the course backup file.
2.6. Click on Continue.
2.7. Allow the process to complete.
2.8. Click on Continue.
2.9. The Quiz is now located within your course.
Note: The new activity will be located in the same Topic or Week section as it was in the original course, so you may need to move it to the desired location.
2.9.1. Click on the Gear icon.
2.9.2. Select Turn editing on.
2.9.3. Grab the Crosshair icon with your mouse.
2.9.4. Drag the item to the new location.
2.9.5. The new activity is now in the desired location.
Note: Each time you move an activity or resource, you should refresh the course main page to make sure that it has actually moved where you expect it to be.
You have now learned how to use the Simple Restore tool to bring in a single Activity from a backup file.
