What is an Orphaned section/activities and how do I fix it?
You will learn what an Orphaned section (Orphaned activities) is and how to fix it. When you use the Import tool (or the Simple Restore tool) to bring in Activities and Resources from another course which has more topic sections in it than does the destination course, you may see that some of the topic sections at the bottom of the course do not appear unless editing is turned on.
Follow these steps after you have imported content into a destination course where there are orphaned activities (orphaned section). There are two ways shown below how to fix this issue.
2. Turn editing on.
4. Scroll down to the bottom of the course main page.
5. Using the + sign to fix orphaned activities
Use these sub-steps to fix orphaned activities one section at a time.
5.1. Click on the + symbol.
With editing turned on, look in the bottom right-hand corner of the course main page. You will see icons with a + and a - sign. Click on the + sign icon. This will add a Topic Section to the bottom of your course main page. Or, in the case of an Orphaned activities section, it will cause the Topic Section to become visible to students.
6. Using Edit settings to fix multiple orphaned activities
Use these sub-steps to fix multiple orphaned activities sections.
6.1. Click on Edit settings in the Administration block.
6.3. Use the drop down menu to select the desired number of sections.
You have now learned how an Orphaned section (Orphaned activities) is created and how to fix it.
