Which web browser settings should I use to play ShareStream hosted video?

You will learn that there are several different web browsers that you can use to play video and audio hosted by ShareStream (Pick-n-Play) that play within your course in TITANium. However, you may need to adjust some of the Preferences/Settings within the web browser, such as enabling third-party cookies.

Since videos hosted on ShareStream are from a web site outside of TITANium, your web browser must be set to allow third-party cookies (or at least cookies from https://fullerton.sharestream.net).

Safari for Mac

Follow these to steps to make sure you have set your Safari web browser to always allow cookies from third-party websites.

The screenshot below shows a course with an inserted video, but the video does not display because Safari is not allowing third-party cookies.

1. Click on Safari in the top left corner.

2. Click on Preferences.

Preferences is selected.

3. Click on the Privacy tab (if it isn't already selected).

4. Check Always allow.

Always allow radio is selected.

5. Close the dialog by clicking on the top left corner.

6. Refresh the webpage.

7. The video play icon should now display.

8. The video plays when clicked.

Safari should now display and play all ShareStream video and audio which have been inserted into a course in TITANium.

Chrome for Mac

The default setting for Chrome on a Mac should allow the videos to play. However, if the video/audio doesn't play, follow these steps to enable third-party cookies.

2. Click on Show cookies and other site data.

Show cookies and other site data is selected.

3. Click on the Blocked tab.

Blocked tab is selected.

4. Click on fullerton.sharestream.net.

Allowed field is selected.

5. Click on Allow.

Allow button is selected.

6. A message should state that cookies are now allowed.

7. Click on Close.

8. Refresh the web page.

You can click on either the Reload button that will appear or on refresh/reload the web page in some other way.

9. The video play button now displays.

Chrome on the Mac should now play any ShareStream hosted video within your courses in TITANium.

FireFox for Mac

For FireFox on the Mac you may need to set it to allow third-party cookies.

Follow these steps to set FireFox to allow third-party cookies.

1. Click on FireFox and select Preferences.

Preferences link is selected.

2. Click on the Privacy tab.

Privacy tab is selected.

3. Select Always for accepting third-party cookies.

Accept cookies is selected.

FireFox on the Mac should now play your videos hosted on ShareStream.

Safari on the iPad

Follow these steps to set Safari to "Always Allow" cookies.

1. Tap on Settings.

Settings is selected.

2. Scroll down to Safari.

Safari is selected.

3. Tap on Block Cookies

Block Cookies is selected.

4. Tap on Always Allow.

Always Allow is selected.

5. Refresh the webpage.

Refresh icon is selected.

6. The video should now display.

Safari on your iPad should now display and play all ShareStream video and audio which have been inserted into a course in TITANium.

FireFox for Windows 7

Follow these steps to set FireFox on Windows 7 to allow third-party cookies.

In this screenshot, the video doesn't display because third-party cookies are not enabled.

1. Click on the Hamburger icon in the top right corner.

Hamburger icon is selected.

2. Select Options.

Options button is selected.

3. Click on the Privacy tab.

Privacy tab is selected.

4. Click on Exceptions.

Exceptions link is selected.

5. Type 'https://fullerton.sharestream.net'.

Address of website field is selected.

6. Click on Allow.

 Allow button is selected.

7. Click on Save Changes.

Save Changes button is selected.

8. The video should now display.

FireFox is now set to allow third-party cookies from ShareStream.

Internet Explorer for Windows 7

Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 7 has a known issue which may prevent it from playing ShareStream hosted videos within TITANium. The fix is unknown.

Internet Explorer on Windows 7 is therefore not recommended for viewing or managing ShareStream hosted media.

Below is the error that may occur within the course where the video is supposed to be located but instead is a flowplayer SWF error message.

Also, media assets within the MediaManager may not be visible as in this screenshot below.

Instead of IE 11, use Chrome or FireFox.

Chrome for Windows 7

Since Google makes its living off of third-party advertisements and hence third-party cookies, Chrome comes out of the box with third-party cookies enabled.

However, if for some reason you have set Chrome to block third-party cookies, you can follow these directions to enable them.
