How do I export some questions from my Question bank?
You will learn how to export a category of questions from your course's Question bank. Sometimes, as an instructor, you might want to reuse some of your questions in a new course, but don't want to copy all of the questions.
Follow these steps to export one category of questions from your course's Question bank.
1. Enter your Course in TITANium.
2. Click on Question bank in the Administration block.
3. Click on Export.
4. Select 'Moodle XML format'.
There are three different file formats you can choose when exporting your questions.
Gift format: This format creates a simple plain text file which is easily edited. It cannot contain images or graphs or math equations created in a math editor.
Moodle XML format: This format should maintain even complex questions with images and graphs and feedback.
XHTML format: This format should also be able to maintain complex questions. Use this format if you want to use the questions in a different LMS.
5. Select the category of questions you want to export.
In order to select all of your questions stored in the Question bank, select the top-level category (in this case, it is called 'top'); all of the sub-categories will be included in the export.
6. Click on Export to file.
Leave the 'Write category to file' and the 'Write context to file' checked. Unless when you import your questions into a new course, you want to create a new category.
7. If the XML file does not download, click on the link called 'click here'.
If the file downloads, then you can click on Continue to return to the Question bank page.
8. The XML file should now be in your Downloads folder.
You have now learned how to export a category of questions from your course's Question bank.
