How do I set my Topic sections to become visible to students by date?

You will learn how to use the Restrict access setting for a Topic section, so that you can have the Topic section open by a specified date and time. For example, if you want your Topic sections to open week-by-week, follow these steps below.

1. Enter your course in TITANium.

2. Turn editing on.

Click the Turn editing on link within the ADMINISTRATION block or click on the Turn editing on button in the top right-hand column.

3. Scroll down to the Topic section you want to edit.

4. Click on Edit for that Topic section.

6. Scroll down to the Restrict access section and click to expand it.

The options that appear on this pop-up menu will differ depending upon which settings you have previously configured for your course. For example, the Group option will only appear if you have already created at least one group in your course. Other restrictions which may appear are Grouping and Activity completion.

Date, Grade, User profile and Restriction set are always available.

Each of these options allow you to set a different type of restriction.

Use from to decide when the Topic section will become visible to the students.

Note: Keep in mind that when activities (like assignments, forums, quizzes, etc.) are in a hidden section, they are also hidden from the student in the gradebook.

Now, repeat steps 3 through 11 for each Topic section you want to edit.

13. Students will see the Topic header and the date it will become available to view.

For this example, the date of June 13, 2016 has not yet occurred, so Topic section labeled Week 3: June 13 - June 19 shows only the Topic header and the conditions of the restriction.

14. To hide the Topic section completely, follow these steps.

14.1. Scroll to the Topic you want to hide completely and click on Edit.
